to equality.

We are committed

Diversity is important to us. Very important. We attach great importance to treating all people equally, regardless of their gender, skin color, ancestry, ethnicity, language, origin, beliefs and opinions, or disability.

In this context, we would like to particularly address the issue of equality. Why? In our IT industry, one issue in particular has emerged: Women are largely underrepresented. For this reason, we are particularly committed to empowering the female gender. After all, female software developers and consultants are still being sought in vain in many places. Even in our company, the proportion of women is only around 27 percent.

Why is that, or what is the reason for it? According to bitkom, the proportion of women studying for their first degree in computer science is just 28.9 percent, and the number of applicants for jobs (e.g., IT specialists) is also low at 15 percent. Experts blame this on outdated stereotypes and role models. IT has long been dominated by men. And this despite the fact that programming was a typically female profession in the first half of the 20th century.

The good news is that we are determined to do our part to ensure that the ratio continues to improve. We are one hundred percent actively committed to this.

That is what we are doing

to ensure equal opportunity.

anaptisAwakening interest

Through the “Training Ambassadors” initiative in collaboration with the IHK Nord Westfalen, we have set ourselves the goal of getting schoolgirls and schoolboys interested in IT professions.

Even talented female students lose their interest in IT or general technical subjects if they are not specifically encouraged in them. The confrontation with clichés that pigeonhole them as “unfeminine” also deters those who are interested.

We want to counteract this and motivate and encourage female students to complete training in the field of IT.

We don’t put much emphasis on hard facts when hiring new team members. Our team is made up of the most diverse types of people, talents and characters.

Studies also prove the sense of diversity. A 2018 study by McKinsey, for example, proved that companies that rely on diversity in top management are more successful.

In addition, we offer a range of goodies – we are definitely open to individual agreements such as childcare subsidies.

anaptisWork 4.0

One reason why the proportion of women is so low is the compatibility of family and career. We have jumped on the digitalization bandwagon – in line with our business model – and have increasingly decoupled work from the workplace. Mobile working has been technically possible for a long time. We have also enabled it organizationally. We don’t think much of power and control, but work at eye level and value communication and team spirit.

In this way, we enable our team to reconcile family and career. This has already benefited mothers and fathers alike.

anaptisEqual Pay

One of the most important steps toward gender equality is equal pay.

According to a study, women in the EU still earn on average 16 percent less than men for an hour’s work. That’s already somewhat less than it was a few years ago, but nonetheless this difference is unacceptable to us.

We are fighting the gender pay gap. With us, work performance is rewarded – irrespective of gender.

Gendering in language

We clearly state our positions and are committed to equality in IT. Nevertheless, we have decided against changing our language – whether face-to-face, on our website or in social media – accordingly. For reasons of better readability, the simultaneous use of the language forms male, female and diverse (m/f/d) is almost completely dispensed with. All personal terms apply equally to all genders. This is a matter close to our hearts and a matter of course for us.
