Business Central on-premise.

Since October 2018, the ERP solution Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is no longer only available for rent in the cloud, but also for purchase as an on-premise version (local solution). As a result, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will no longer be able to versions under this name. The name “Microsoft Dynamics NAV” now completely changes to “Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central”. The purchase of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central license also requires the conclusion of an enhancement plan (EP). The EP has an initial term of 12 months and costs 16% of the list price of the total acquired license annually in advance. Calculation example: 3 x Dynamics 365 Business Central Essentials = 4,500 euros, 16% of which = 720 euros annually in advance for the Enhancement Plan. The EP is extended and calculated with each license extension / new order. The EP can be terminated in writing with a period of 90 days prior to expiry. Upon expiration of termination of the EP, the acquired licenses of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central may continue to be used, but may no longer be updated, extended or altered in any way.

How does the current Microsoft Roadmap look like?

We have known for some time that Microsoft is focusing the cloud. From now on, the ERP product line will be continued under the name “Dynamics 365 Business Central”. However, there is an all-clear signal for customers, because Microsoft says “cloud first, but not cloud only.”. It will still be possible, to purchase the on-premises-solution.

Are there different models?

Currently there are three models available: the cloud-based solution, cloud-based solution in your company or on-premises solution in your company.

With cloud-based solution, you monthly pay fees and store your data in the cloud. With the on-premises solution in your company you pay the purchase price once and host the system in your company/data center. The cloud-based solution in your company means that you monthly pay license fees and host the system in your company/data center.

Is there a discount for existing customers when upgrading from older Dynamics NAV versions to Dynamics 365 Business Central?

We offer discounted transitional prices to our existing customers who wish to switch to the cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with a 40 % * discount. The offer is limited to users of the versions Dynamics AX, C5, GP, NAV, POS, RMS, SL and XAL. The entitlement to the benefits applies until June 30, 2020. Following, both existing and new customers pay the regular price for Dynamics 365 Business Central .
