Project Management in Dynamics 365 Business Central.

In Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can manage projects via the so-called job card. Here you can enter a wide variety of details. For example:

• Description of the project
• Debtor
• Project manager
• Tasks incl. start and end date, budget and costs

In Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can assign job tasks to your colleagues as part of project management.

In Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can perform budgeting per project. The budget can be very simple or complex, covering a large number of items divided into different activity levels.

On the one hand, the budget is used to plan the resources that will be assigned to a project. On the other hand, it allows you to compare your planned amounts with the actual consumption at any time, which makes it easy to control an ongoing project. Moreover, this approach contributes to a higher quality in later projects, as it reduces the risk of underestimated costs.

In an ongoing project, job costs (e.g. resource usage, material, job-related purchases) may be incurred and documented in Dynamics 365 Business Central. These are regularly invoiced to the customer.

This process is usually the responsibility of Financial Accounting:

Extend the Dynamics 365 Business Central project module with Gantt charts using Netronic’s Visual Job Scheduler add-on. This makes it easier for you to plan projects and resources and to control the current project using drag-and-drop.

Take a look at project-specific metrics (e.g. profitability) based on real-time data at any time. You can do this for individual parts of the project or overall.

You can also review and record usage on various parts of your job in Dynamics 365 Business Central (e.g. resource quantities). The raw materials purchased or times booked for the job can be viewed at any time.

In Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can keep track of the working times performed for a job in the “Time Sheet” table provided for this purpose. In order to save the tedious manual recording, it is possible to copy job planning lines into the time sheet.

It is also possible to define different work types in case you need to bill your customer for different services.

Finally, the timesheet is reviewed and approved by the person responsible for the job.
