We answer your

frequently asked questions.

  • What are the main differences between Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central?

Dynamics 365 Business Central is functional Dynamics NAV. Nevertheless, there are some differences:

    • Deployment: Unlike Dynamics NAV, Dynamics 365 Business Central can be bought or rented.
    • Price model: In Dynamics NAV there was still the Starter or Extended Pack. In Dynamics 365 Business Central, a distinction is made between the essentials and premium packages. There is also the Team Members option, which can be added to both Essentials and Premium.
    • Licensing: In Dynamics NAV there were concurrent users, in Dynamics 365 Business Central, on the other hand, there were only person-related named users. Microsoft has set the exchange ratio for concurrent licenses that were purchased before October 1, 2018 and have valid maintenance at 1: 3. There are no longer any SQL Server licenses in connection with the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premise. Every new customer must license the SQL Server themselves.
    • Client: In Dynamics NAV, the web client did not have the same functionality as the Windows client. In Dynamics 365 Business Central there is only the web client.
    • Programming language: The programming language of Dynamics NAV is C / Side CAL (until 2020). The programming language of Dynamics 365 Business Central is Visual Studio.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - Is Microsoft Dynamics NAV no longer available?

We have known for some time that Microsoft is focusing the cloud. From now on, the ERP product line will be continued under the name Dynamics 365 Business Central. However, there is an all-clear signal for customers, because Microsoft says “cloud first, but not cloud only”. It will still be possible, to purchase the on-premises-solution.

  • Is Dynamics NAV still supported?

  • What incentives are there for upgrading from older Dynamics NAV versions to Dynamics 365 Business Central?

    40% Discount for existing clients

We offer discounted transitional prices to our existing customers who wish to switch to the cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with a 40 % * discount. The offer is limited to users of the versions Dynamics AX, C5, GP, NAV, POS, RMS, SL and XAL. The entitlement to the benefits applies until June 30, 2020. Following, both existing and new customers pay the regular price for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

    Upgrade at a fixed pice

With our service NAVFixUp we offer you an upgrade to a fixed price. In this way you obtain new technologies and the availability of updates for your ERP solution.

    Changes in licensing

In addition, there have been changes regarding the licensing of Dynamics 365 Business Central compared to previous versions. You now purchase “Named User” instead of “Concurrent User”. This means that you license your users by name. The exchange ratio is currently 1:3. So every employee has personal, non-transferable access to the system.
